Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
The Chattanooga Lookouts had to battle their way uphill all night long Saturday, but did not have the horses to catch up to the Tennessee Smokies. Despite getting the 22nd home run from post-season all-star Joc Pederson, the Lookouts dropped their third sraight in their final home series, 4-3.
Smokies starter Nick Struck (1-3), earning his first win in Double-A, benefitted from first-inning home runs from Javier Baez (a two-run poke) and Christian Villaneuva (solo). Both came against Chattanooga starter and loser Chris Reed (4-11), who only lasted 4.1 innings Saturday.
Pederson, one behind Huntsville's Brock Kjeldgaard in the league home run race, made it 3-1 in the first inning, but Tennessee added a fourth run in the top of the fifth inning. The Lookouts scored twice in the bottom of the fifth, but nothing thereafter as the Smokies held him to five total hits.
Miguel Rojas and Rafael Ynoa each had RBIs in that inning.
The series continues Sunday with the year's penultimate game Zach Lee (10-10) is scheduled to start in the 6:15 game.
