BIRMINGHAM, AL - The Biscuits (32-35) trailed 2-1 heading into the eighth inning before scoring three runs in the final two runs to beat the Birmingham Barons (29-38) 4-2 at Regions Field on Thursday night.

The Barons put in Cody Winiarksi (1-3) - a Southern League All-Star - in the eighth inning to try to protect a 2-1 lead. With one out in the inning, Jeremy Moore blasted his second home run of the series over the wall in right to tie the game at two.

Ryan Brett led off the ninth inning with a double to right-center. With Jake Hager attempting to bunt, Winiarski threw a wild pitch that moved Brett to third. Hager then hit a bouncer over Chris Curley at third to drive in Brett and give the Biscuits a 3-2 lead. Cameron Seitzer followed with a single to right that went under Michael Earley's glove and allowed Hager to score from first.

Matt Ramsey (2) struck out the side in the ninth inning to pick up his second save of the year.

Victor Mateo allowed a run in the first and a run in the second inning, but settled in during the third inning. Mateo never allowed multiple base runners on base after the second and did not allow the Barons to score for five-straight innings until turning things over to the bullpen.

Luke Maile, Jeff Malm and Hager finished with three hits each. Malm's RBI-single in the fourth inning made it a 2-1 game.

The middle-game of the series is Friday night at 7:05. RH Dylan Floro will pitch against RH Brian Blough.
