
Stars Run Away from Chattanooga

Huntsville, AL - The Huntsville Stars(44-24) broke a 4-4 tie with the Chattanooga Lookouts late and ran away with an 11-5 win Thursday night at Joe Davis Stadium.
With the game tied at 4-4 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, the Stars sent ten batters to the plate to take the lead.
Nick Ramirez led off with a walk. Two batters later Jason Rogers reached on an infield single. Shawn Zarraga then gave the Stars a 5-4 lead on an rbi double to left field.
Hainley Statia was the next batter and he doubled down the left field line producing two runs. Kentrail Davis chipped in an rbi single giving the Stars an 8-4 lead.
The Stars blew the game open in the seventh. Jason Rogers hit a solo homerun to left center. It was Rogers sixth homerun of the season. Statia then singled into left field and the ball was misplayed by LF Scott Scehbler which scored Zarraga.
Statia also scored on a sharp infield single by Shea Vucinich to first base.
The Stars took an early 2-0 lead against Chattanooga LHP Chris Reed(3-5). Ramirez sent a two-run homer over the right field wall in the first inning to give the Stars an early lead.
Chattanooga then took a lead in the third inning. With the Lookouts trailing 2-0, O'Koyea Dickson grounded out to shortstop scoring Darnell Sweeney making it 2-1.
Schebler then laced a double to right center field tying the game at 2-2. The next batter Chris O'Brien singled into center giving the Lookouts a 3-2 advantage.
Chattanooga made it 4-2 in the fourth after a Noel Cuevas rbi single.
The Stars tied the game in the fourth on a pair of rbi singles by Rogers and Statia.
Tommy Toledo(3-0)earned the win out of the Stars bullpen by pitching a scoreless sixth inning.
Statia finished 3-4 with 3 rbi. Rogers had a productive game as well going 3-4 with 2 rbi.
Reed, who took the loss for the Lookouts went 5.1 innings allowing seven hits on seven runs(six earned) with five strikeouts.
Tim Dillard earned his first save of the season for the Stars. Dillard worked three innings out of the bullpen. He allowed five hits on one run.
The Stars lead Chattanooga 3-0 in their five game series. Game four will be played Thursday night at Joe Davis Stadium. RHP Drew Gagnon(4-2, 2.78) will start for the Stars. Chattanooga will send RHP Matt Shelton(2-1, 2.89) to the mound. Thursday's game can be heard with Steve Jarnicki starting at 6:15 pm CDT on 92.9 FM, 1450 AM and wtkiradio.com.
