Montgomery Biscuits News Release

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Biscuits (31-35) brought the potential tying run to the plate in the ninth inning while the bullpen tossed 5.2 scoreless-innings before falling to the Birmingham Barons (29-37) in the series-opener Wednesday night at Regions Field.

With the Barons leading 4-2, Birmingham brought in Brandon Hardin (2) to pitch the ninth inning. After retiring the first two batters, Luke Maile drilled a single into left-center to extend the inning for Jeremy Moore who also singled. With Moore representing the tying run, Hardin was able to strike out Alejandro Segovia to end the game.

After the Barons scored two in the second and two in the third to take a 4-1 lead on the Biscuits, Montgomery's bullpen took over and shut down the Baron offense. Jimmy Patterson struck out a season-high five through 3.2 innings. Andrew Bellatti followed by going two innings without surrendering a run.

In the seventh, the Barons collected back-to-back singles before Bellatti struck out a pair and finished off the inning without allowing a run.

The Biscuits struck first in the first inning. Ryan Brett led off the game with a double. After a Jake Hager groundout, Cameron Seitzer brought Brett home with a sacrifice fly.

Jeremy Moore hit his fifth home run of the year - a solo shot in the fifth - to make it a 4-2 game.

Game two of the series is Thursday night at 7:05. RH Victor Mateo will throw against RH Chris Beck.
