Biscuits Homer Twice, Bullpen Spotless in Win

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Richie Shaffer and Taylor Motter both hit home runs while the bullpen dealt four scoreless-innings in a 4-3 win for the Biscuits (64-70/29-35) over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (56-78/25-39) Monday night at Bayfront Stadium.

After Jimmy Patterson (4-0) left the game after allowing three runs through five innings, it was up to the bullpen to protect a 4-3 lead. Matt Lollis went two scoreless-innings while Santiago Garrido kept the Wahoos off the board in the eighth inning. Bryce Stowell (3) hit the first batter in the ninth but then retired the next three hitters for his third save of the season. Patterson picked up his first win as a starter.

Shaffer continued his surge at the plate with a two-run home run in the first inning, his 17th of the year. Motter led off the third inning with a home run to give the Biscuits a 3-1 lead.

Pensacola answered time the Biscuits scored. After Shaffer's home run. Devin Lohman singled-in a run in the bottom of the first inning. Kyle Waldrop followed Motter's home run with an RBI-double in the bottom of the third. After the Biscuits scored a run in the fifth by Robert Stephenson (6-10) walking in a run, Yorman Rodriguez hit a solo shot in the bottom half of the inning to make it a 4-3 game.

The series-finale is on Tuesday at 6:30. RH Victor Mateo will throw for the Biscuits while the Wahoos will have RH Michael Lorenzen on the hill.
