
Barons Drop Fifth-Straight After Loss to M-Braves

Birmingham, Ala. - The Birmingham Barons dropped their fifth game in a row and fourth straight against the Mississippi Braves, falling by a score of 8-3 in front of 2,120 fans atTrustmark Park.
Barons starter Chris Bassitt (3-1, 2.08) suffered his first loss of the season, allowing six runs (five earned) on 10 hits over 3.2 IP as the M-Braves built an early 6-0 lead.
The lead would be 6-0 in the sixth when Grant Buckner homered for the second time since joining the Barons. Itwould be the only run allowed by Mississippi starter Joe Gardner (3-2, 2.94) over 7.0 IP.
The Barons tacked on two additional runs in the ninth inning on RBI hits by Tim Anderson and Rangel Ravelo but it wasn't enough to overcome the early deficit.
With the loss, the Barons fell to 58-76 on the season and 29-35 in the second half while Mississippi improved to 79-54 on the year and 40-24 in the second half.
The Barons will look to salvage the final game of the series tomorrow night as RHP Myles Jaye (4-11, 5.45) takes the hill against RHP Mitch Atkins (5-1, 3.73). First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM CDT.
