Montgomery Biscuits News Release

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Biscuits (47-47/12-12) launched four home runs and Victor Mateo (10-6) became the first to ten wins in the Southern League in a 12-2 win over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (40-54/9-15) Sunday afternoon at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium.

Ryan Brett broke a 1-1 tie with a solo shot to left center in the fifth inning. Next up was Jake Hager, who also drilled one over the wall in left to give the Biscuits a 3-1 lead. The duo became the first this season to hit back-to-back home runs for the Biscuits.

The Biscuits third long ball came with the bases loaded in the seventh inning. Cameron Seitzer launched one to left for an opposite field grand slam, the first of the year for the Biscuits. Richie Shaffer - the next batter - followed with a towering drive to left to give the Biscuits an 8-2 lead.

Mateo only allowed two hits in his six innings of work. Both hits resulted in runs. A double from Juan Duran in the second put the Wahoos on the board then an RBI-single from Yorman Rodriguez made it a 3-2 game in the fifth. The second run was unearned. Mateo struck out five and walked two.

The Biscuits piled on four runs in the eighth inning. Taylor Motter, Kes Carter, Brett and Hager all had a single to give the Biscuits a 12-2 advantage.

The twelve runs are the most the Biscuits have scored since the third game of the season when they beat the Barons 14-7. The four home runs are a season-high.

The rubber-match is Monday night at 6:30. RH Jeremy Hellickson will get the start for the Biscuits. The Wahoos will have RH Mikey O'Brien on the mound.
