GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Birmingham Squadron, NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, took care of business on the road and earned their first win in franchise history, defeating the Swarm 128-117 on Friday night.

After finishing the first quarter in a tie (27-27), the Squadron took a lead that they would not give up for the remainder of the game, reaching a lead of 24 points at one point. As a team, Birmingham shot .536 from the floor on 45-84 attempts and .405 from the three-point line. The Squadron scored 44 points in the paint, 19 fast break points and 24 points off of 22 turnovers.

Leading the way for Birmingham was guard Jared Harper who finished the night with 35 points, tied for a single-game career high in his three-year G League career. His 35-point performance matched his total in a game last season with the Westchester Knicks, where he dropped 35 against the Erie Bayhawks who were coached by current Squadron Head Coach Ryan Pannone. Harper shot .571 from the floor (12-of-21) and .400 from behind the arc (4-of-10) and also led the team with six assists and added two rebounds in 34 minutes.

Guard Joe Young also had a big hand in the Squadron's point total, finishing with 30 points - 26 of which were in the second half. Young added three rebounds, four assists and two steals in 36 minutes in the contest.

The Squadron shared the ball effectively, allowing seven players in the team to score in double figures including guard Jared Harper (35), guard Joe Young (30), guard Ra'Shad James (13), forward Zylan Cheatham (12), guard Riley LaChance (11), forward Malcolm Hill (10) and forward/center James Banks III (10). Birmingham was the only team in the G League to have two players score 30+ in the league's first night of regular season action.

The Squadron and the Swarm take the court again Saturday night, November 6 at 6:00 p.m. CT at The Fieldhouse in Greensboro, N.C.
