NBA G League Ignite makes its season debut Friday in Southern California when Ignite tips off against the South Bay Lakers. Game time is set for 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET from the UCLA Health Training Center in El Segundo, Calif., and airing on NBAGLeague.com.
Ignite, who went 8-7 in its inaugural season of play before clinching a playoff berth in G League single-site competition, returns with a nearly all-new roster rife with NBA Draft-eligible prospects and veteran mentors. The team is highlighted by six elite youth prospects in MarJon Beauchamp, Dyson Daniels, Michael Foster Jr., Jaden Hardy, Scoot Henderson and Fanbo Zeng. Veterans Jessie Govan and Amir Johnson returned for a second season with Ignite to help bolster a veteran group that also includes Kosta Koufos, Kevin Murphy and Pooh Jeter, among others. New head coach Jason Hart will also make his official head coaching debut Friday.
This year's squad played three preseason games in preparation for the season against the Iowa Wolves (L, 98-87), Sioux Falls Skyforce (L, 104-90) and Santa Cruz Warriors (L, 110-88).
