Birk Boosts Boulders in 7-3 Homecoming Win over Quebec
May 31, 2019 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
New York Boulders News Release
Ryne Birk recorded three extra-base hits as the Rockland Boulders stormed to a 7-3 victory over the Quebec Capitales at Palisades Credit Union Park.
Adam Ehrlich brought home the game's first run with a first-inning single, and Birk's homer an inning later made the score 2-0. The Capitales rallied to tie with a pair in the fourth, but John Brontsema's solo shot in the bottom half put the hosts back on top.
After Quebec again drew even, Cito Culver's sixth inning sac fly put the hosts on top to stay. Birk was just one hit shy of the cycle, recording a double, triple and homer, while James Mulry claimed the win in relief. Capitales starter Karl Gelinas was tagged with the loss.
The six-game homestand continues on Saturday night as Rockland and Quebec square off in a 6:30 pm start. The series wraps up at 1:30 on Sunday before the Sussex County Miners visit for a three-game set from Tuesday through Thursday.
