Augusta, NJ - The Sussex County Miners announced earlier this afternoon that the contract of RF Angel Reyes was purchased by the Miami Marlins organization. This marks the 6th contract sold by the Miners to a Major League organization, with 5 of them coming in the last 10 months.

"Well, it's a good thing," said Miners Manager Bobby Jones before Friday night's game. "More congratulations to him. It's what we do as an organization moving forward, definitely off of what we did last year. I think how we got off this year and what we did last year, I think there's a lot of scouts watching us. I think the sky is the limit and there will be a lot of guys moving."

Reyes was a spark at the top of the Miners lineup. In just 12 games with the ballclub, Angel hit .375 for Sussex County with a pair of home runs and 11 runs batted in. Reyes also stole 9 bases for the Miners in 10 attempts, and his OPS was .989. All while providing steady defense for the Miners in right field during his brief stint.

His contributions were not unnoticed by the Miners skipper. "It'll be tough," Jones said when asked if Reyes will be difficult to replace. "But you know how we do it. We'll figure it out. We got a good make up in that locker room, so we should be fine."

Miami released Cameron Baranek to make room for Reyes on the Jupiter Hammerheads of the A-Advanced Florida State League, marking the second time that Reyes will report to Jupiter in his career. As for the Miners, they signed OF Noah Cummings to take over the spot vacated by Reyes.
