SALISBURY, MD - Despite Andrew Martinez's second home run of the season, the Delmarva Shorebirds were toppled by the Salem Red Sox 6-2 on Tuesday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

The Shorebirds (23-12) have now lost in back-to-back games while the Red Sox (19-17) now own a winning record (4-3) against Delmarva.

It was Delmarva who struck first in the second inning on the strength of Martinez's dinger. His solo shot with two away was his second of the campaign and put Delmarva up 1-0.

Salem only scored in one half inning all game but did a bevy of damage in the fourth inning. Joe Davis started the inning off by banging a double off the centerfield wall before moving to third on a Jaxx Groshans single. Stephen Scott was then hit by a pitch to load the bases. Ceddanne Rafaela tied the game at 1-1 as he forced home a run with a walk. Nick Northcut proceeded to unload the bases as he tagged a bases clearing double into left-centerfield, making it 4-1 Salem. After a pitching change, Will Dalton kept the line moving with a flare single to right to put runners at the corners. Dalton then stole second before Nick Yorke scored Northcut with a sacrifice fly to center. Gilberto Jimenez capped off the inning with a single to left to score Dalton and make it 6-1 Red Sox.

The Shorebirds tried to rally in the sixth. Gunnar Henderson hustled out a double with one away and one out later Dylan Harris brought him in as he ripped a single to right to bring Delmarva to within 6-2, but that was as close as they would get.

Robert Kwiatkowski (4-0) earned the win for Salem. The righty went three innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out one.

Noah Denoyer (3-1) was tagged with the loss, ending his three-game winning streak. Denoyer worked 1+ inning, allowing five runs on five hits and a walk.

Devon Roedahl collected his fourth save of the season after tossing the final three innings in scoreless fashion, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out two.

Neither team's starter factored into the decision. Xavier Moore began the night for Delmarva and worked two scoreless innings, walking one while striking out three. Jeremy Wu-Yelland started for Salem and went three innings allowing one run on one hit, walking four and striking out four.

Darell Hernaiz extended his on-base streak to 27 games with a first inning walk for Delmarva. Martinez (2-for-4, HR, RBI) and Dylan Harris (2-for-4, RBI) combined for four of the five Delmarva hits and both RBIs.

Salem was led by Jimenez who finished 2-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base.
