Memphis Redbirds News Release
MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis won their ninth game in walk-off fashion Thursday night with an 8-7 win over Salt Lake at AutoZone Park.
The Rallyin' Redbirds struck again in the bottom of the ninth erasing a two-run deficit with back-to-back home runs from Joe Mather and Mark Hamilton. After Salt Lake rallied for six runs in the top of the ninth to claim a two-run lead Mather's two-run homer to left-center tied the game and Hamilton's homer on to the Bluff delivered the victory. For Hamilton it was his second home run of the night with the former Tulane star finishing the game 3-for-5 with three RBI. Mather snapped a 0-for-16 slide going 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and four RBI. Luis Figueroa led the Bees with three hits.
Rich Rundles picked up his second win in as many outings for the Redbirds recording just one out in the ninth. Bobby Mosebach took the loss allowing three runs on three hits in the ninth. Memphis starter Brandon Dickson turned in six solid innings allowing one run, unearned, on four hits in a no decision. Salt Lake starter Ryan Vogelsong walked four and allowed one run on seven hits in 5.1 innings.
