
Birds Fall After Late Surge by GreenJackets

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans fell to the Augusta Greenjackets 5-6 on Saturday night.
The Pelicans started off strong in the top of the first when Andy Garriola got out with a sacrifice fly to center field sending Reivaj Garcia home to score making it 1-0 in the first inning.
The Greenjackets responded when Francisco Floyd got out on a sacrifice fly sending Jair Casanova home to score to tie the game in the second inning at 1-1.
Reviaj Garcia hit a homerun on a line drive to center field to give the Pelicans a lead in the top of the third. However, in the bottom of the third the GreenJackets plated another run on a fielding error in right field, allowing Augusta to tie the ballgame at 2-2.
In the top of the fourth, Andy Garriola homered on a fly ball to left field giving the Pelicans a 3-2 lead.
The Birds extended their lead when Parker Chavers singled on a ground ball to center field, sending Jefferson Rojas home to score. Miguel Pabon then singled on a soft line drive to right field, scoring Chavers and giving the Pelicans a 5-2 lead in the sixth inning.
The Greenjackets put up a fight in the bottom of the seventh. Nick Clarno doubled on a line drive to left field, sending Casanova home to score. Then, Ambioris Tavarez doubled on a line drive to left field, scoring both Clarno and Tyler Collins to tie up the game at 5-5.
In the bottom of the eighth, Clarno doubled on a sharp line drive to first base allowing Jeremy Celedonio to score making the score 6-5. The Pelicans were unable to make a comeback in the top of the ninth and took their second loss of the series.
Jackson Ferris started the game for the Pelicans and threw 3.1 innings allowing just one earned run and striking out five. Gonsalves is credited with the loss while Augusta's Bryant (3-1) gets the win and Franks gets his fourth save of the season.
The last game of the series between the Pelicans and the GreenJackets is set for Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m.
