St. Joseph, MO - The Sioux Falls Canaries (30-17) set a franchise record for wins in a half by defeating the St. Joe Blacksnakes (15-32) to win their 30th game of the first half. The Canaries scored in four different innings on their way to a 5-1 win over St. Joe.
The Canaries got on the scoreboard in the top of the second inning. Wil Quintana started the inning by reaching base with a line drive off the glove of Blacksnakes third baseman Chad Sosebee. Abner Arroyo followed with a single to advance Quintana to second base. With runners on first and second, Ben Van Iderstine came to the plate and smoked a hard hit grounder past the glove of Blacksnakes first baseman Dustin Yount. With Robles on third, Jake Whitesides came up to the plate and hit a ground ball up the first base line.
