Binghamton rallies late to beat Baysox in tenth

Binghamton, NY -- Jacobo Sequea blew his second save of the season when David Bacani roped a single that plated Jeff Duncan with the winning run as the Binghamton Mets beat the Bowie Baysox 6-5 in 10 innings Saturday night.

After Bowie (47-41) came back to score three runs in the final two innings to take a 5-3 lead, Binghamton (51-37) roared back to score two in the bottom of the ninth to send the game to extra frames.

Sequea (2-2) took the loss for Bowie after he gave up three runs, two earned, on four hits in just 1 1/3rd innings. Angel Pagan and Chase Lambin both hit RBI singles in the ninth. .

PJ Bevis (1-0) picked up the win in relief after he tossed one scoreless inning. Bevis did not allow a hit and fanned one batter in his outing.

Javier Cardona chipped in a 1-for-3 effort and three RBI to help the Mets keep a slim hold on first place in the Northern Division.

Keith Reed led the Baysox offense as he went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run scored.

The series resumes Sunday afternoon with a 1:05 PM (ET) scheduled start. RHP Chris Piersoll will take the mound for the Baysox against LHP Neal Musser. The Baysox play two more games against Binghamton before the All-Star break.
