Biggers Delivers Walk-Off Hit against Suns

Hickory, NC - Jax Biggers delivered a walk-off single against the Hagerstown Suns to give the Crawdads a 7-6 victory. The 'Dads overcame two deficits and an hour and forty minute rain delay to take the series opener against the Suns on Monday night.

The Crawdads scored three runs in the second inning to take an early lead. Jonathan Ornelas singled to get things started and Matt Whatley followed up with a walk. Frainyer Chavez singled to bring in Ornelas. Kole Enright hit his fifth double of the season to drive in Whatley. Miguel Aparicio's sacrifice fly allowed Chavez to score from third.

Hagerstown answered with four runs in the top of the third to take a 4-3 lead. The Rangers number nine prospect Brock Burke got the start in a rehab appearance from Frisco. He allowed four runs in five innings, walking none and striking out one.

The 'Dads added a run in the fifth to make the score 4-4. Jax Biggers singled to get things started. He stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error. Melvin Novoa grounded out but Biggers was able to score.

The Suns took a 6-4 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning.

The 'Dads answered with two runs in the bottom half the inning to tie the game. Miguel Aparicio hit a solo homerun to right for the first run. Tyreque Reed crushed a homer off the batter's eye to even the score up at six.

Frainyer Chavez led off the bottom of the ninth with a single to center. Kole Enright hit a sacrifice bunt to advance Chavez to second. Jax Biggers hit a line drive to right field to score Chavez and send the 'Dads home 7-6 winners.

The series continues tomorrow night with Dollar Dog Tuesday. Hot dogs are just $1 and dogs can get a ticket for the game for $1 thanks to Cody Law Firm, Hebrew National, and WHKY 1290AM and 102.3 FM. Craft beers will also be available for $2 courtesy of Lowes Foods.
