
Biggers Comes Double Shy of Cycle But 'Dads Fall

Hickory, NC - The Crawdads fell to the Asheville Tourists 6-4 on Friday night in the series opener.
Asheville took a 5-0 lead over the 'Dads, scoring a run in the first inning, three in the second, and another in the fourth. Two of the runs were unearned off starting pitcher Ronny Henriquez.
Jax Biggers got the 'Dads on the board with a solo homerun to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning.
The 'Dads added another run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jonathan Ornelas was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a wild pitch. He came home on a single by Biggers.
Kole Enright helped the 'Dads chip away at the lead with a homerun to dead center in the sixth.
In the bottom of the seventh the 'Dads scored their fourth unanswered run to make it a one run game. Jax Biggers tripled for his third hit of the night. The hit also brought him within a double of the cycle. Josh Jung singled to drive in Biggers.
The Tourists pushed the score to 6-4 with a run in the eighth inning.
Tomorrow evening Micah Tyler will be in town for a post-game Christian concert. The 'Dads and Tourists will face off at 5pm and the concert, presented by the Billy Graham Library, Gardner-Webb University, Seagle Electric and 106.9 The Light, will begin immediately following the game.
