Erie SeaWolves News Release
Erie secured their first six-game series win tonight with a 10-4 win over Bowie.
Bowie grabbed an early lead off SeaWolves starter Wilmer Flores in the first inning. Flores' first pitch of the game was clobbered by Zach Watson for a lead-off home run. Three more hits followed, including a run-scoring single by Billy Cook to give Bowie a 2-0 lead.
Erie got a run back immediately in the second inning. Jake Holton led off with a solo homer against Bowie starter Peter Van Loon.
Van Loon was replaced at the start of the third inning and Erie got to the Bowie bullpen quickly. Garrett Stallings was first out of the pen for Bowie and he could not escape the frame. Andrew Navigato led off with a single and Colt Keith followed with an opposite-field two-run homer. Later, Grant Witherspoon, Ben Malgeri, and Daniel Cabrera all tallied RBI hits. Stallings was charged with six runs on seven hits in 0.2 innings.
Erie extended their lead in the fifth inning when Dillon Dingler powered a bases-loaded double to right-center, scoring all three runners, making it a 10-2 Erie lead.
Flores (1-2) picked up his first win of the season, pitching five frames and allowing two runs on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Stallings (0-2) took the loss.
Bowie got a little closer on Cook's two-run homer in the sixth off Michael Bienlien. Adam Wolf threw the final 2.1 innings scoreless for Erie.
The series concludes at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday as Brant Hurter opposes Chayce McDermott.
