
Los Alces de Maine Outslug Los Perros Calientes 10-7

Akron RubberDucks News Release
The Akron RubberDucks and Portland Sea Dogs donned their Copa de la Diversion identities on Saturday night as Los Alces de Maine knocked 17 hits to power past Los Perros Calientes de Akron 10-7 at Canal Park.
Turning Point
After Akron cut the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the first, Los Alces de Maine started to pull away in the third. Matthew Lugo tripled home Niko Kavadas before scoring himself on a Tyler Dearden single to make it 5-1 Alces.
Mound Presence
Hunter Stanley got the start for Akron and allowed three runs before getting a strikeout to end his outing. Randy Labaut followed with two and two-thirds allowing two runs while striking out five. Bradley Hanner tossed three innings allowing three runs while striking out three. Zach Hart allowed a run over an inning and two-thirds. Trey Benton followed with an inning and a third allowing a run while striking out four.
Duck Tales
Akron answered the early runs back in the bottom half of the first when Johnathan Rodriguez worked a bases loaded walk to make it 3-1 Alces. Connor Kokx reached on an error in the sixth, which allowed Joe Naranjo to come home and cut into the lead. Julian Escobedo broke up the no-hitter a batter later by lining a single right to score Kokx to make it 8-3 Alces. Akron got a little closer in the seventh on Bryan Lavastida's solo home run to trim it 9-4 Alces. Los Perros Calientes did not go quietly in the ninth as Rodriguez launched a three-run home run into the bullpens to cut it to 10-7 Alces.
Notebook
Lavastida's home run was his first since Aug. 23, 2022 against Richmond...The runs allowed by Labaut were the first earned runs allowed by the lefty this season...Game Time: 3:29...Attendance: 4,278.

The RubberDucks will conclude their series with the Portland Sea Dogs at Canal Park on Sunday, May 7 at 2:05 p.m. Left-hander Jaime Arias (2023: 1-0, 5.40 ERA) will make his 2023 Akron debut against Portland right-hander Sterling Sharp (1-0, 2.95 ERA).
