Big Sixth Inning Lifts Erie to Victory

The SeaWolves used one big inning to notch a come-from-behind victory over the Harrisburg Senators, 4-3, on Monday night at UPMC Park.
Erie starter Beau Burrows retired the first seven batters and struck out five hitters over the first four innings.
In the top of the fifth, the Senators broke the scoreless tie. Alec Keller and Jake Noll started the inning with back-to-back hits. With one out, Hunter Jones singled home Keller for a 1-0 lead.
Harrisburg added to the lead in the top of the fifth. Carter Kieboom led off with a double and moved to third on an error. Dan Gamache followed with a walk to put runner son the corners for Raudy Read. Read singled home Kieboom making it 2-0. With one out, Noll grounded out plating Gamache for a 3-0 lead.
The SeaWolves big inning came in the last of the sixth against Senators starter Wil Crowe. Erie loaded the bases on a pair of singles from Josh Thole and Will Maddox and a walk by Sergio Alcantara. Crowe walked Willi Castro, plating Thole to make it a 3-1 game. Harrisburg then summoned Dakota Bacus from the bullpen to face Daz Cameron with the bases loaded and no outs. Cameron hit into a fielder's choice as the Senators recorded the first out at the plate. Josh Lester then doubled off the wall in left-center, scoring Alcantara and Castro, tying the game. Isaac Paredes put the 'Wolves ahead with a sacrifice fly to center, plating Cameron making it 4-3.
Three Erie relievers, Trent Szkutnik, Mark Ecker and Sandy Baez combined to hold the Senators without a hit over the final four innings of the game. Szkutnik (3-1) earned the win while Baez earned his first save since 2013.
Crowe (0-2) took the loss allowing four runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts in five innings.
Burrows took the no-decision allowing three runs on seven hits with a walk and five strikeouts in five innings.
The SeaWolves will look for three straight wins on Tuesday night at UPMC Park at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday features Kids Eat Free (First 250 ages 12 and younger receive a Smith's hot dog, bag of Utz chips and Pepsi fountain drink), Two-Buck Tuesday ($2 draft beers in the Bud Light Beer Garden until the end of the sixth inning), and an appearance by the Human Cannonball. Dave "The Bullet" will be shot out of a cannon after the game and land in a net at home plate.
