Sens Can't Hold Lead against SeaWolves

The Erie SeaWolves edged the Harrisburg Senators 4-3 Monday night at UPMC Park. The Senators held a 3-0 lead in the sixth before the SeaWolves scored four runs to take the lead for good.

Senators starting pitcher Wil Crowe and Erie starter Beau Burrows exchanged four shutout innings before the Senators jumped ahead in the fifth. After back-to-back singles from Alec Keller and Jake Noll to start the inning, Hunter Jones lined a single to right to the put the team ahead 1-0.

The Senators added another pair of runs in the sixth on an RBI single by Raudy Read and run-scoring groundout by Jake Noll.

The SeaWolves responded with four runs in the sixth. With a run already home in the frame, Josh Lester doubled in a pair to give Erie the lead. The SeaWolves took the lead when Isaac Paredes hit a sacrifice fly to center to plate Daz Cameron.

The final 12 Senators batters were retired by SeaWolves pitchers as the Senators fell 4-3.

Crowe (0-2) surrendered four runs on five hits across five innings. After throwing five shutout innings to start his outing, he faced four batters in the sixth and did not record an out.

Trent Szkutnik pitched two perfect innings of relief to pick up the win. Sandy Baez pitched a perfect ninth to pick ups his first save.

The Senators and SeaWolves continue the series Tuesday night. Cesar Vargas takes the bump for the Senators against Erie starter Alex Faedo. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at UPMC Park.
