(Central Islip, N.Y.) - The Long Island Ducks defeated the York Revolution 10-2 on Thursday night in the finale of a three-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

The Ducks struck early, plating six runs in the second inning off Revolution starter Dan Minor. A solo home run to left field by Deibinson Romero and a grand slam to right field by Rey Fuentes highlighted the inning. Two more runs scored in the third on RBI singles to center by John Apostolo and Vladimir Frias, extending the lead to 8-0.

York closed to within 8-2 with single runs in the fifth and sixth off Ducks starter Seth Simmons. A solo homer to left by Carlos Franco and an RBI single to center by Welington Dotel did the damage. However, the Ducks got both runs back in the seventh on a bases loaded walk by Nick Garland and another RBI single from Frias.

Simmons (6-7) earned the win, tossing six innings of two-run ball, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out six. Minor (7-7) suffered the loss, surrendering eight runs on eight hits and two walks over two and two-thirds innings with one strikeout. Ismael Cabrera, Michael Tonkin and Rob Rogers combined for three scoreless innings of relief for the Ducks.

Romero led the Flock offensively with three hits, an RBI and three runs scored. Daniel Fields added two hits and scored three times.

The Ducks hit the road on Friday night to begin a three-game series against the High Point Rockers. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at BB&T Point.
