
Big Innings Lead DockHounds over Atomic Pork Chops

GENEVA, Ill. - The Lake Country Dockhounds scored six runs in the sixth inning and added a seven spot in the ninth to earn a 15-6 victory over the Kane County Atomic Pork Chops on Friday Night at Northwestern Medicine Field. Tonight was one of four nights the Kane County Cougars will play as the Atomic Pork Chops in the 2022 season.
The DockHounds (8-5) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first two frames against Atomic Pork Chops starter Ben Allison (2-1). Kane County (8-5) would tie the game in the bottom of the fourth against Lake Country starter Taylor Bloye (1-1). Josh Rolette belted an RBI-double to center, scoring Steve Lombardozzi before Dylan Busby singled to score Rolette and tie the game at two.
Lake Country broke the game open in the top of the sixth. 11 men would come to the plate, with six runs scoring on six hits to make it 8-2. Blake Berry, Wilfredo Gimenez, Connor Bagnieski, Jake Snider and Gabriel Noriega all drove in runs in the frame. Noriega finished the night 3-for-6 with 3 RBIs.
The Atomic Pork Chops cut into the lead in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI sac fly by Rolette and an RBI groundout from Busby. In the bottom of the eighth, Busby drove in another run with an RBI single to score Jimmy Kerrigan. BJ Lopez added another run with a sacrifice fly to score Rolette and cut the DockHounds lead to two runs.
In the top of the ninth, Lake Country added plenty of insurance. Five straight singles and four straight walks led the way to a seven-run ninth inning.
The series with the DockHounds will continue Saturday night at Northwestern Medicine Field. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. Both Saturday's and Sunday's games will feature postgame fireworks. For tickets call 630-232-8811 or visit kccougars.com/tickets.
