Big Inning Lifts Voyagers Past Owlz

A four-run fourth inning was too much for the Owlz to overcome on Tuesday night. The Owlz lost to the Great Falls Voyagers, 6-4, in game one of a three game series.
The Voyagers got on the board first in the second inning scoring a run on a single to right field.
The Owlz answered back in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game. The run scored as Quinten Davis stole second base and Fran Whitten stole home on the throw to second.
In the third inning the Owlz took the lead scoring two-runs. With two-outs the Owlz had runners on second and third base when Whitten singled on a line drive to centerfield scoring both Andrew Daniel and Raul Linares.
The Voyagers retook the lead with a big fourth inning in which they scored four-runs. A solo home run in the fifth inning gave them a 6-3 lead.
The Owlz cut the lead to two in the seventh inning when Daniel scored on a line drive by Michael Strentz to right field.
The Owlz entered the ninth inning within striking distance. With two-outs Linares walked to get on base and brought Michael Strentz to the plate who singled to left field. The Owlz were unable to score as Whitten grounded out to second to the end the game
Whitten and Strentz both went 2-for-5 on the night. Whitten recorded two RBI and Strentz recorded a double and an RBI.
Jonah Wesley got the start for the Owlz and pitched a solid three innings striking out five batters and only allowing two hits.
The Owlz will take on the Voyagers again Wednesday at home at 7:05.
