Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Inland Empire outfielder Edwin Yon recorded a career-high nine RBIs, as the 66ers routed the Quakes on Wednesday night by a final of 19-8 at LoanMart Field.
Yon homered twice on the night, including a grand slam as part of an 11-run seventh inning, as Inland Empire notched their second straight win over the Quakes to open the six-game series.
The Quakes found themselves down 3-0 after an inning, but would rally to take a 7-3 lead to seemingly take control of the game.
Diego Cartaya had two hits, including his tenth homer, and two RBIs as part of the seven-run outburst, before being removed from Wednesday's contest.
Inland Empire responded with four in the fifth to tie the game, then exploded for 11 in the seventh to break a 7-7 tie and put the game out of reach.
Ismael Alcantara, who pitched in the eighth inning, smashed his fourth homer of the year to cap Rancho's scoring.
Daniel Cruz (2-2) had a tough night in relief, as he only recorded one out in the seventh and was tagged with the defeat, after allowing four runs.
Inland Empire reliever Jack Dashwood (3-1) worked 5.1 innings of long relief and earned the win.
The Quakes (32-29) and 66ers (32-29) are now tied at the top of the South Division standings. On Thursday night, that tie will be broken, as it'll be game three of the six-game set. Thursday is another Thirsty Thursday, with drink specials throughout the night, including $3 Pepsi products, $4 domestics and $5 premium drafts and wine. Game time is 630pm and tickets are available at rcquakes.com.
