
A Big Third Inning Sends Nuts to Second Straight Loss

Modesto, CA - Eight third inning runs sent the Modesto Nuts to a 13-1 defeat against the San Jose Giants on Wednesday night at John Thurman Field.
Elvis Alvarado (L, 0-2) gave up four straight hits to start the third inning. Luis Matos doubled home a run and Casey Schmitt followed with a two-run double. Alvarado would get just one out in the third inning before he was removed. The righty worked 1.1 innings allowing six runs on seven hits.
Leon Hunter Jr. followed and walked the first two he faced before recording a strikeout. Abdiel Layer had the biggest hit of the game when he connected on a three-run triple. Glowenke capped the scoring with his second hit of the inning when he lifted an RBI single.
The Giants (39-23) would continue to add on all night. Alex Canario homered in the fifth. Marco Luciano doubled home a run in the sixth. Glowenke Recorded an RBI double in the seventh. Canario had his second RBI of the day with a RBI double in the eighth.
The lone Nuts (36-26) run crossed the plate when Ty Duval crushed a solo home run in the fourth.
That was all the Nuts could get against Carson Ragsdale (W, 3-3) who worked five innings with six strike outs.
Game three between the Nuts and Giants is at 7:05 pm on Thursday night at John Thurman Field.
