Big Fourth Inning Gives the RedHawks Edge as They Take Explorers 5-4

The Fargo - Moorhead RedHawks opened their four-game series with the Sioux City Explorers with a 5-4 victory on Thursday night at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, ND.
The RedHawks opened the floodgates on the Sioux City Explorers in the bottom of the third inning, as they had total of four runners cross home plate. Insurance run in the bottom eight guaranteed the F-M their 8th win of the season and sets them at 8-6 on the year.
The Explorers found an answer and were able to cut the 'Hawks' lead in half in the top fifth, when Rene Tosoni, despite having two outs on the board, hammered the first pitch for a triple to the left field, scoring Luke Murton and Todd Jennings.
The scoring stopped for both teams until the top of the eighth. Michael Lang scored on a base hit by Nate Samson, making the score 4-3. The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks did not leave the run unanswered, as they added one of their own. Red-hot C.J. Retherford found yet another gap and added another double to his hitting stats. After Nic Jackson was intentionally walked, Petey Paramore singled to center field, bringing in Retherford.
Being down 5-3, the Explorers were not backing down without a fight. The attempt to make the game go into extra innings, or at least bottom ninth, Mark Sobolewski took Nate Garcia's first pitch over the left field wall for a home run to make it a 5-4 game.
Garcia settled in, and after a strike out, fly out and another K, he was able to record his fifth save of the season. The 'Hawks move to 8-6, while the Explorers fell to 5-10.
