Frederick Keys News Release

FREDERICK, MD. - A big first inning buried the Frederick Keys (8-10) who dropped an 8-1 contest to the Fayetteville Woodpeckers (11-8) on Tuesday night at Segra Stadium. The Woodpeckers opened up the game scoring seven runs, capped off by a three-run home run from Migelangel Sierra. Brenan Hanifee (1-2) was responsible for all seven runs and five hits in the frame.

Hanifee settled in after that, only allowing one more run to cross on a Seth Beer single to make it 8-0. Hanifee was finished after four innings, surrendering 10 hits, eight runs, a walk and striking out two. His counterpart in Chad Donato was stellar, striking out eight batters, including six consecutive punch outs, and allowing just three hits over five innings.

Steve Klimek and Scott Burke spun four scoreless innings in relief for the Keys, while JP France held the line for the Woodpeckers. The Keys lone score came in the seventh inning. With runners on first and second and two-outs, Stuart Levy muscled a double into the left field corner to make it 8-1.

The Keys look to rebound against the Woodpeckers on Wednesday. RHP Michael Baumann (0-1, 3.12 ERA) takes the mound for Frederick while RHP Yohan Ramirez (0-1, 2.92 ERA) starts for Fayetteville. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00pm, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m. on frederickkeys.com and the TuneIn radio app.

The Frederick Keys are the Advanced-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, and play their home games at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium. Following the 2018 season, the Keys were named the winner of the Carolina League's Complete Franchise Award. This goes to a team in the league which demonstrates franchise stability and significant contributions to its community and the league. In 2019, the team will host the Carolina League All-Star Classic presented by Visit Frederick.
