Winston-Salem Dash News Release
WILMINGTON, Del. - Thanks to four runs over the last two innings on Tuesday night, Winston-Salem earned a series victory over the Wilmington Blue Rocks with a 6-2 win at Frawley Stadium.
With the game tied at two in the eighth, Jameson Fisher started the inning with a single to left against Collin Snider (2-1). After a bunt single from Zach Remillard, Craig Dedelow laid down a sacrifice bunt to put runners on second and third with one out.
Then, Carlos Perez bounced a high chopper to Snider to the right of the mound. On the play, Snider's throw sailed past the catcher Sebastian Rivero, allowing both Fisher and Remillard to score to make it a 4-2 contest. Yeyson Yrizarri capped the inning with a run-scoring single to right.
Fisher, who reached base four times on Tuesday and recorded three hits, drove home the game's final run in the ninth with an RBI double, plating Nick Madrigal who started the inning with a single. The series victory marks the Dash's (10-10) first series win since taking three out of four against Frederick from April 4-7 to begin the season.
The scoring on Tuesday started in the second. With the game still scoreless, Dedelow smacked a solo shot to right-center against Jackson Kowar to give Winson-Salem a 1-0 edge. The former Indiana Hoosier has now hit three home runs this season, which is second on the team behind Luis Robert.
After back-to-back starts without having allowed an earned run, Kyle Kubat was strong again on Tuesday. The left-hander went five innings and allowed just two hits while striking out six.
In the fifth, the Blue Rocks (11-9) pushed across an unearned run against the southpaw in his final inning of work. Sebastian Rivero walked to begin the frame, and he moved to second on an errant pickoff attempt from Kubat. With two outs, Cristian Perez stroked a run-scoring single to center to knot the contest at one.
Winston-Salem regained the advantage in the sixth. Fisher walked with one out, and Remillard followed with a double to put runners on second and third. With Dedelow at the plate, Kowar uncorked a wild pitch that allowed Fisher to cross home plate.
However, the Dash returned the favor in the bottom of the seventh with Codi Heuer (1-0) on the mound. After a walk to MJ Melendez, Dennicher Carrasco reached on a fielder's choice and an error by Yrizarri to put runners on first and second. Then, Heuer tossed a wild pitch that allowed Melendez to score from second to knot the score at two. Despite the run, Heuer earned the win by tossing two innings and striking out three.
Winston-Salem wraps up its three-game set against the Blue Rocks on Wednesday at Frawley Stadium. The starters for both teams are still to be determined. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m., and fans can catch all of the action at wsdash.com/broadcast, MiLB.tv and the TuneIn Radio App.
Following the Dash's seven-game road trip, the Dash return home for a seven-game homestand beginning on Friday, April 26, against the Frederick Keys. After Friday's game, there will be a postgame fireworks display. Live music and a Chick-fil-A Four Pack Night are on deck for Saturday, followed by a Lowes Foods Family Sunday during the series finale.
The homestand will roll into the following week with a four-game series against Potomac from April 29-May 2, which features a Free Food Monday and a Taco Tuesday.
