Bowling Green, Ky. - A five-run first inning helped propel the Clinton LumberKings (Class-A/Seattle Mariners) to a 7-1 victory over the Bowling Green Hot Rods (Tampa Bay Rays) on Friday night at Bowling Green Ballpark. Despite the loss, a season-high of 5,051 fans attended the game just ahead of the postgame concert on Saturday night by Sundy Best.

The Clinton rally in the first began with a single by Arby Fields. Marcus Littlewood then doubled to advance Fields to third base. Jack Reinheimer grounded out to second to drive home Fields to get the LumberKings on the board. Following a hit-by-pitch to Austin Wilson, Joseph DeCarlo doubled home both Littlewood and Wilson. Jake Seager followed with a double to score one, and the inning was capped by Martin Peguero's run-scoring single.

The lead was extended to 6-0 when Littlewood hit a solo home run in the top of the second.

The Hot Rods got on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Pat Blair led off with an infield single. On out later, Juniel Querecuto doubled to left field to score Blair, and cut the lead to 6-1.

Clinton added the game's final run in the eighth when DeCarlo reached on a passed ball, then later scored on a single by Peguero to left field.

The Bowling Green offense pounded out nine hits despite the loss, and Darryl George extended his hitting streak to a Hot Rods season-high eight games.

Jake Zokan (1-0) allowed one run in five innings to earn the win for the LumberKings. Chris Kirsch (0-3) started for the Hot Rods and was handed the loss. Luis Cabrera and Colton Reavis worked four innings and only allowed one unearned run with four strikeouts and just one free pass.

The homestand will wrap-up in style at the ballpark on Saturday night. Before Sundy Best takes the stage for a post-game concert, FUNNERween will be celebrated and fans are encouraged to dress up along with the Hot Rods front office. Also, McGown TV Sales & Service will be giving away a free television.

With the streak at 12 games, the Hot Rods are now guaranteeing a win on Saturday in the series finale with Clinton. If the team wins, fans can enjoy the end of the franchise's longest losing streak. However, if the streak continues, fans in attendance will receive a free ticket to any game during the South Bend (Arizona Diamondbacks) series on April 28-May 1. For tickets, fans can visit the box office at Bowling Green Ballpark, logon to BGHotRods.com, or give the Hot Rods a call at 270-901-2121.
