Florence Y'alls News Release

O'FALLON, MO - The fifth inning as been the Florence Freedom's best friend so far in two games against the River City Rascals.

Florence, trailing by one run in the fifth, scored six runs after a seven run fifth inning the previous night, and went on to win 7-1 in a rain shortened seven innings.

Brad Hough plated the first run for the Freedom in the fifth with his fifth double of the season to make it 1-1. Jeff Miller gave the Freedom the lead at 2-1 with an RBI fielder's choice. Justin Pickett followed with an RBI single and Ryan Basham then hit his first homerun of the season, a three run shot, to give the Freedom a 6-1 lead.

Florence made it 7-1 the next inning as Hough launched a solo blast, his second, to left center in the sixth.

Andy Clark started for the Freedom and left in the fourth inning with one out and the bases loaded. Demetrius Banks relieved the right hander and picked him up as he struck out the next two batters. Banks (1-0) went on to pick up the win tossing 3.2 innings of scoreless relief while striking out four.

Clark danced around trouble all night long as the Rascals stranded eight base runners through the first four innings. He failed to strike out a batter for the first time in his professional career. Rascals starter Chris Ingoglia (1-1) suffered the loss.

The win for the Freedom (4-2) clinched the series win over the Rascals (4-2) and sets them up for the sweep on Thursday night at 8:05 p.m. Catch the Freedom while they are on the road on 106.7 FM WNKR.
