Better to give than receive

October 31, 2006 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the United Hockey League and 2005-06 Central Division, Tarry Cup and Colonial Cup Champions, announce the organization raised and donated $19,800 from the 3rd Annual Orange Ice Jersey Auction.

Fans were clamoring for all of the K-Wings special Halloween jerseys; however, at the end of the night the two highest bids were for the jerseys worn by forwards Tyler Willis and Kory Karlander. Willis's jersey received the high bid of $3,000, while Karlander's went for $2,000. The donation of $19,800 is a record raised by an Orange Ice Jersey auction.

"Thanks to our fans several local charities will benefit from this auction," said Vice President/General Manager Paul L. Pickard. "In the past, we have selected just one charity, by extending the number we use in each auction, we will have the ability affect more people in our community."

The money raised will go to the American Red Cross, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club, Great Lakes Burn Camp, Gyrphon Place, Ronald McDonald House, Salvation Army, and SPCA.
