
Chicago Hounds Sign Former NHL Player Vernarsky

Chicago, IL. Greg Puhalski announced today that former National Hockey League player Kris Vernarsky will join the team. Kris played 14 games (1-0-1, 2 PIM) for the Bruins during 2002 - 2003, making his NHL debut against the Washington Capitals on January 20th, 2003. He scored his first NHL goal on February 6th, 2003, during a 6-3 win against the Montreal Canadiens.
Vernarsky, a Detroit, Michigan native played last season for the Motor City Mechanics. Playing in 75 games last year, Vernarsky scored 10 goals and 31 points. Head Coach Greg Puhalski is excited about the debut of Vernarsky this weekend, "We are extremely pleased to have Kris join the team. He will give us good strength down the middle."
Puhalski also announced forward T.J. Sakaluk and emergency backup Andrew Joy were released today.
The first Hounds home game of the year will be on November 3rd when The Generals visit the brand new Sears Centre on Friday night. The Sears Centre is an 11,000-seat state of the art multi-purpose family entertainment, sports and cultural center under construction in Hoffman Estates' Prairie Stone Business Park. Located right at I-90 and Route 59, it will host more than 135 events each year, and is projected to attract more than 750,000 annual visitors.
