Windy City ThunderBolts News Release

Crestwood, IL - The Windy City ThunderBolts were defeated 9-0 by the Kalamazoo Kings in the rubber game of their three game series at Hawkinson Ford Field.

The game remained scoreless through four as the starting pitchers from both sides worked at a rapid pace. Justin Roelle surrendered the first hit of the game in the top of the third to Kalamazoo shortstop Jason Sullivan. Sullivan charged home on a single to center by center fielder Darryl Blaze but was cut down on a laser from Jerome McCoy.

The ThunderBolts had two men on base in the bottom half of the fourth, both hit by pitches from Kalamazoo starter Josh Beshears. Justin Schuda and Jason Crosland remained on base when the inning ended.

Kalamazoo posted two runs in the top of the fifth on RBI singles by Sullivan and Nick Rogers. In the bottom half of the inning, left fielder Justin Niefer broke up Beshears' no-hit bid with a double to right. That would be the only hit Beshears would allow in his complete game effort.

The Kings added three in the sixth, two of which came on a single by Michael Estrada. They also struck for one in the seventh and three more in the ninth. Sullivan ended the night 5-5 with five runs driven in. The Kalamazoo offense tagged Windy City pitching for nine runs on sixteen hits in the Saturday night affair.

Suffering the loss for Windy City was Roelle, who lasted just four and two-third innings, allowing two runs on five hits. The loss drops Roelle's record to 3-3. Earning the win for the Kings was Beshears. Beshears'record improves to 5-1 with his complete game, one-hit, eleven-strikeout effort.

The ThunderBolts hit the road for a three game series against the Mid-Missouri Mavericks. Ryan Dittfurth will take the hill for the ThunderBolts on Sunday. Game time is 6:05pm. Sunday night's action can be heard on 1230AM WJOB with the pre-game show beginning at 5:45pm.
