Nathan Roush tossed a complete game two-hitter as the Gateway Grizzlies defeated the Rockford RiverHawks 2-1 Saturday night in Rockford, IL.

The Grizzlies are now 14-22. They have won consecutive series for the first time since the beginning of June. They finish the six-game road trip 4-2.

Rockford drops to 21-15.

Roush (1-1) picks up his first win as a professional going the distance allowing just the run on the two hits. He struck out two on the night. He retired 15 in a row before walking Matt Sauls with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning. The next batter, Brian Baron lined out to Phil Warren who dove on the bag for the game-ending double play.

Oscar Vargas had the only RBI for the Grizzlies. Vargas drove in the game winner in the sixth. He was 1-3.

The Grizzlies return home for the annual July 4th series with the River City Rascals Sunday-Thursday at GMC Stadium. Game time Sunday is 6:05 p.m.
