Bergenheim Joins Sound Tigers

BRIDGEPORT, CT – The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have added Center Sean Bergenheim to their roster under emergency circumstances on loan from the big club.

Bergenheim, 20, was the Islanders' first pick, 22nd overall, in the 2002 NHL draft. The 5'11'' 194-pound native of Helsinki, Finland notched one goal, one assist, two points and four penalty minutes in 18 games with the Islanders this season before returning to Finland and posting two goals, two assists, four points and 18 penalty minutes in 20 games with Jokerit Helsinki. Bergenheim, who will be available for tomorrow's 7:05 p.m. playoff-opener versus the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard, played the past two seasons, 2001-03, with Jokerit and also spent time with the Finnish Junior National team.
