Benoit to Waterloo; Lancers Receive High Value Draft Picks

OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) have announced the acquisition of valuable draft picks in exchange for defenseman Nate Benoit. The draft picks received by the Lancers are as follows:

-2023 5th Round, Phase I Pick

-2023 1st Round, Phase II Pick

-2023 2nd Round, Phase II Pick

-2024 5th Round, Phase II Pick

-2024 6th Round, Phase II Pick

Benoit, 20, of Bow, New Hampshire made his debut with the Lancers on February 18th, 2022 after being acquired in a trade with the Tri-City Storm. Throughout his 21 regular season games in Omaha in the 2021-22 season, Benoit picked up three assists (0G-3A-3P), a -3 rating, and 29 penalty minutes. That was then followed by notching three playoff points (1G-2A-3P) with a +3 rating before falling in the western conference semi-finals to the Tri-City Storm.

On the 2022-23 season, the University of North Dakota commit skated in 37 games with the Lancers and acquired 17 points (4G-13A-17P), a -23 rating and 67 penalty minutes, making him the point leading defenseman on the Lancers' roster.

Prior to his time in Omaha, Benoit played a total of 42 games with the Tri-City Storm (as previously stated) from 2020-2022, picking up six points (1G-5A-6P), 20 penalty minutes and a +13 rating, assisting him in his way to being drafted by the Minnesota Wild 182nd overall in the 6th round of the 2021 NHL Draft.

Currently the Waterloo Black Hawks sit in 2nd place in the USHL western conference standings at a record of 25-13-0-0 through 38 games for 50 points as they sit four points back from the conference leader, Fargo Force.
