Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

FARGO, ND - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks looked to make it two-in-a-row against the Gary Southside Railcats on Wednesday night in front of 3,760 fans at Newman Outdoor Field. The RedHawks started left-handed pitcher Tyler Pike (4-2) against fellow lefty Trevor Lubking (4-3) in game two of the three-game series.

Gary got on the board first with a leadoff solo home run from Alex Crosby in the top of the third inning. The RedHawks answered in the fifth inning when Correlle Prime hit a solo home run, his second of the series. After Brian Olson hit a single up the middle, Lubking loaded the bases with a pair of walks. Devan Ahart gave the RedHawks a 2-1 lead after with an RBI infield single.

The RedHawks bullpen found themselves in a jam in the eighth inning when the Railcats loaded the bases on a pair of walks and an error. Thomas Walraven's single drove in two runs and allowed Gary to retake a 3-2 lead. Luke Wilkins was able to limit the damage, as he was able to get the two outs he needed to get out of the inning after facing only two batters.

After a leadoff single from Devan Ahart, and a fielder's choice off the bat of Leo Pina, Fargo-Moorhead's T.J. Bennet crushed a two-run home run off the batter's eye in center field, allowing the RedHawks to regain the lead. The one-run lead was all RedHawks' closer Geoff Broussard needed to earn his seventh save of the season, and give the RedHawks a 4-3 victory.

The RedHawks (17-14) will wrap up the series with the Railcats (12-17) tomorrow at 12:30PM before opening up another home series against the Chicago Dogs (17-11) on Friday. There will also be a post-game concert featuring Off-Duty after Thursday's game, presented by Network Center, Inc.
