Beloit Sky Carp News Release

BELOIT, WI - The Beloit Snappers returned home to Pohlman Field tonight to face the Burlington Bees and won by a score of 5-3.

The Snappers started off by getting on the board first when they scored two runs in the first inning because of a sac fly by Yairo Munoz to score Brett Vertigan and a single to the shortstop to bring in Sandber Pimentel.

The Bees then scored a run in the third off of a sac fly to make it 2-1 and in the fifth inning they tied it up at 2-2 when Raul Linares grounded out but brought in Kasey Coffman.

Beloit took the lead again to make it 3-2 when Edwin Diaz hit his sixth double of the year on a fly ball to center field to let Shawn Duinkerk score. Diaz has only had 8 hits on the year and 6 of them are doubles.

Burlington tied it back up at 3-3 in the eighth inning before the Snappers took the lead, 4-3, with help from a sacrifice bunt by Jose Chavez to bring in Joe Bennie. A wild pitch by Burlington's Alex Klonowski made it possible for Shawn Duinkerk to make it 5-3, which was the final score.

Vertigan reached base on balls four times in the win for the Snappers and Rob Huber gets the win with 1.2 innings pitched and two hits allowed.

The Snappers play the Burlington Bees again tomorrow night at 6:30 PM. To buy tickets, stop by the office or call (608) 362-2272. Stay tuned to www.snappersbaseball.com and the Snappers' Facebook and Twitter accounts for all up to date news.
