Belnome Earns Player Of The Week Honors

San Antonio - San Antonio Missions second baseman Vince Belnome has been named the Texas League Player of the Week for the week of June 6-12.

In six games the 23-year old native of Coatesville, PA hit .478 (11-for-23) with five home runs and 16 RBI. He also had a .586 on-base percentage, a 1.717 OPS and scored eight runs.

On the season Belnome is hitting .308 (64-for-208) with 11 home runs and 45 RBI in 57 games. He is tied for third in the Texas League in walks (38), fourth in doubles (16) and ranks fifth in RBI and on-base percentage (.415).

Over his last 14 games (since May 28), he is hitting .400 (22-for-55) with eight home runs and 24 RBI. During that time, he leads all of professional baseball in RBI and only Matt Kemp of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Prince Fielder of the Milwaukee Brewers have hit as many homers as Belnome.

Belnome was also chosen as the starting second baseman in the All-Star Game.
