
Bees Take Two from Cougars

Burlington, IA (May 20, 2008) - The Burlington Bees won both games of a doubleheader with Kane County Tuesday night at Community Field. The Bees won the first game 4-2 while finishing the night out with a 5-3 victory.
In game one, the Bees scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning to take an early lead. Alwin Perez led the inning off with a double, moved to third on a ground-out and then scored on a Wilson Tucker triple. Tucker then scored when Jimenez reached on a fielder's choice. Kane County scored a run in both the third and fourth innings to tie the game at 2-2. The Bees took the lead for good in the fifth inning. With two outs, Adrian Ortiz singled and scored on a David Lough triple. Lough then scored when Mike Moustakas hit a double. Moustakas had two hits in the game.
Eduardo Paulino pitched six innings allowing two runs on six hits with seven strikeouts and no walks to get the win. He is now 2-2 on the season. Tony Bradley pitched one scoreless inning to pick up his first save of the season.
In the second game, the Bees got going right out of the chute. In the bottom of the first, the Bees scored three runs. Moustakas hit a sacrifice fly to score Ortiz and Jason Taylor hit a two-run homerun that scored Tucker. Kane County responded with two runs in the second inning to get back within one run but the Bees added another run in the second when Tucker doubled Ortiz in from second. The teams traded runs in the fifth. The Bees' runs came once again from Tucker as he hit his second homerun of the season. Tucker ended up going 3-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Ed Cegarra picked up his second win pitching six innings allowing three runs on seven hits. Chris Chavez picked up his second save pitching one inning of scoreless baseball.
The Bees and Kane County are back in action Wednesday night at Community Field. Matt Mitchell is on the mound looking for his first win of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30. The game can be heard on 1490 KBUR and online at www.GoBees.com.
