
Offense erupts in 11-6 romp over Wisconsin

The Cedar Rapids Kernels scored a season-high eleven runs in front of 3,162 fans at Dale and Thomas Popcorn Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in an 11-6 win over Wisconsin on Tuesday afternoon.
The Kernels struck for five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning after trailing the Timber Rattlers, 2-1. Chris Rosenbaum was three for four with a double, RBI and two runs scored and Andrew Romine delivered a three run home run in the bottom of the sixth. Angel Castillo was 2 for 4 with two doubles and 2 RBI and Jerry Gonzalez was 2 for 4 with a double and RBI.
Kernels starter Michael Davitt (2-3) allowed two unearned runs on three hits and struck out four over five innings for his second win of the season. The Kernels took advantage of four Wisconsin errors as five of the Kernels 11 runs were unearned.
The Kernels chased Wisconsin starter Juan Ramirez (2-3) after 3.2 innings as he allowed six runs (one earned) on four hits.
Cedar Rapids and Wisconsin continue their four game series on Wednesday at 6:30 pm. It's a Z 102.9 Wii Wednesday - register with 'Z' for a chance to play Wii games on the Rockwell Collins GameLink before the game and regular hot dogs are just a buck all game.
