
Bees Sweep Doubleheader; Series

(Burlington-IA)- The Burlington Bees swept a doubleheader over the Beloit Snappers on Monday night, sweeping a three game series at Community Field putting the Bees in second place in the western division.
The Bees jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the third inning in game one. Kody Eaves doubled in Ryan Dalton and Erick Salcedo. One at bat later, Chad Hinshaw doubled the Bees lead with a two run homer to left.
Trailing 5-1 in the seventh inning Beloit plated four runs, as Boog Powell singled in Jose Chavez tying the game at five.
Angel Rosa doubled with one out in the bottom of the seventh. Exicardo Cayones pinch hit and drove a single to right, scoring Angel Rosa, giving the Bees a 6-5 win in game one.
Ben Carlson (1-2) earned the win for the Bees while Snappers' reliever Tyler Vail (2-1) was charged with the loss.
Back-to-back doubles from Ryan Dalton and Exicardo Cayones, gave the Bees a 1-0 lead in the second inning of game two.
The game would stay 1-0 until the sixth inning when Tyler Marincov singled up the middle scoring Melvin Mercedes, tying the game at one.
The Bees answered with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning when Stephen McGee singled in to right, Ryan Dalton and Exicardo Cayones would both score and the Bees took the 3-1 lead and held on for the win.
Alan Busenitz (2-3) picked up the win and Blake McMullen (0-2) was charged with the loss for Beloit. With the win the Bees are now a game up on both Quad Cities and Peoria in the wild card standings.
The Burlington Bees (34-29) hit the road to finish the first half. The Bees start a three game series in Clinton against the Clinton LumberKings (29-33) on Tuesday at 6:30 PM. Harrison Cooney makes the start for the Bees against Jose Flores of Clinton.
