
Captains Win Series with 5-2 Victory

Lake County Captains News Release
(Eastlake, OH)- LHP Luis Lugo (4-4) earned the win after pitching six innings and allowed one earned run on three hits. Lugo struck out a career-high ten batters to help the Captains beat the Dragons 5-2. Lake County won their sixth series of the season. The Captains had a winning home stand winning four of six ballgames.
Eric Haase smacked his eleventh homerun of the season in the bottom of the third inning and the Captains led 3-0. The homer by Haase was a three-run home run. Haase leads the team in round trippers with 11. Haase smacked 14 homeruns all of last season.
Dayton (32-30) scored a run in the top of the fifth inning. Tanner Rahier doubled to begin the inning. Rahier scored on a two out single from Joe Hudson and the score was 3-1 Lake County.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Captains (24-40) tacked on two more runs. With two on and nobody out, Dorssys Paulino singled home a run to make the score 4-1. Lake County tacked on another when Paul Hendrix scored from third on a botched pick-off throw to first. The Error made the score 5-1. Dayton scored a run on a wild pitch in the top of the eighth inning to close the gap to 5-2. That was the final.
Caleb Hamrick pitched two innings of relief for the Captains. Hamrick allowed two hit, walked two, and struck out two. Hamrick allowed one run on a wild pitch. Ben Heller struck out the side with the bases loaded in the ninth to earn the save, his third of the season.
RHP Sal Romano (4-5) started for Dayton and allowed six hits and five runs, four of the runs were earned. Romano walked two and fanned three. He allowed the homer to Haase. Romano took the loss. Dan Langfield pitched three scoreless innings of relief for the Dragons.
The Captains will travel to South Bend, IN on Tuesday to open a three game series with the South Bend Silver Hawks. The Captains will send RHP Mitch Brown (0-6, 5.00) and South Bend will counter with RHP Blayne Weller (3-3, 4.30). First Pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM from Four Winds Field.
