Cedar Rapids, IA (June 5, 2008) - The Burlington Bees only allowed one run Thursday night but could not get on the board at all as the Bees lost 1-0 to open a four-game series at Cedar Rapids. The Bees put seven hits on the board but left seven runners on base and had two runners caught stealing on the bases.

The only run of the ballgame was scored in the bottom of the sixth inning for the Kernals. With one out and the bases empty, Jay Brossman hit a solo homerun, which was the only run the Kernals would need.

Eduardo Paulino pitched well for the Bees only giving up the one run in six innings of work. Paulino allowed eight hits with three strikeouts and no walks. Burke Baldwin and Tony Bradley each pitched one inning of scoreless baseball.

The only Bee with more than one hit was Zach Evangelho, who went 2-2 and also reached base when he was hit by a pitch. Michael Anton picked up the win for Cedar Rapids. He pitched 8.2 innings allowing no runs on six hits with seven strikeouts and no walks. Neither team gave up a walk.

The Bees and Kernals continue the series Friday night at Dale and Thomas Popcorn Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00. Matt Mitchell is the scheduled starter for the Bees. The Game can be heard on 1490 KBUR and online at www.GoBees.com. The Bees return home to Community Field for their final home series before the All-Star break on June 9th as they will begin a four-game series against Wisconsin.
