Bees Have Just Three Hits In Loss

Davenport, IA (May 29, 2008) - The Burlington Bees, who had hit six homeruns in their two previous games, could not keep the offensive production going Thursday night as they lost at Quad Cities 6-0. The Bees only had three hits in the contest as their record dropped to 21-32.

Sam Runion made his third start of the season for the Bees and it was a bit of a struggle for him. In the second inning, Tommy Pham led the inning off by reaching on an error, Adron Chambers then walked before Mike Folli hit a three-run homerun to give Quad Cities an early 3-0 lead.

After pitching two scoreless innings, Runion allowed the bases to get loaded in the fifth inning due to an error, a walk and a hit. Zach Peterson then entered the game and allowed all three of the base runners to score. In all Runion, pitched four innings allowing six runs, only three of which were earned, on eight hits and one walk.

The bullpen was very good for the Bees. Peterson pitched three innings allowing no runs on three hits with three strikeouts and one walk. Burke Baldwin made his Bees debut pitching one inning of no-hit baseball.

The Bees' three hits on the night came from Adrian Ortiz, David Lough and Shawn Hayes.

The Bees and River Bandits continue the series Friday night at Modern Woodmen Park. Danny Dufy is the scheduled starter for the Bees. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00. The game can be heard on 1490 KBUR and online at www.GoBees.com. The Bees return to Community Field on Sunday June 1st to begin a four-game series with Clinton.
