Bees Fall in Mother's Day Matinee

The Reno Aces pounded out 13 hits to take down the Salt Lake Bees 8-3 on Mother's Day at Smith's Ballpark.

The Aces got two runs in the third, one run in the fourth and then broke the game open in the late innings scoring three in the seventh and another two in the eighth. Seth Beer and Renae Martinez each had a pair of doubles with Martinez and Domingo Leyba each driving in three runs. Bees starter Thomas Pannone took the loss for the Bees allowing three runs (two earned) over five innings. Relievers Ben Rowen and Jake Reed allowed the final five Aces runs over four combined innings.

Brennon Lund cracked his second home run of the year with a solo shot in the fourth inning to start the Salt Lake scoring. Francisco Arcia finished 3-for-4, including in a ninth inning RBI single. The Bees fall to 0-4 this year, losing the first four games of a season for the first time in franchise history.

The Bees and Aces meet for game five of the six-game series on Monday night at 6:35 p.m. Monday nights are Smith's Family night with four tickets for $20 and hot dogs are on sale for $1 each. Smith's Family night tickets are only available at www.slbees.com.
