Bees Fall in Harvey Rehab Outing

The Round Rock Express downed the Salt Lake Bees 19-5 on Saturday night.

Matt Harvey (0-1) made the start for the Bees in his first outing of his MLB Rehab assignment, as he went two and two-thirds innings and allowed eight earned runs on eight hits while striking out three batters. After a perfect first inning, the Express tallied three runs in the second inning and five runs in the third inning off Harvey using six extra-base hits. The Salt Lake bullpen used six relievers, including two position players to finish the contest, who combined to allow 11 earned runs on 15 hits. Bees pitchers allowed a season-high 19 runs and 23 hits. Position players Ty Kelly and Mario Sanjur both made their season debuts on the mound as they pitched the eighth and ninth inning.

Salt Lake's offense was highlighted by Brennon Lund, as he went 2-for-3 with a two-RBI double and a solo home run. Matt Thaiss collected an RBI from a single in the third inning and Justin Bour collected his fifth home run as a member of the Bees with a solo shot in the fourth frame.

The Bees and Round Rock Express meet for two more games with first pitch coming at 12:05 p.m. on Sunday followed by a 7:05 p.m. start on Monday night.
