Salt Lake Bees News Release
The Salt Lake Bees won their second consecutive game Sunday afternoon, beating the Las Vegas Aviators 12-3 to close out their first homestand of the 2022 season. The victory moved the Bees to 7-5 on the season.
The top offense in Triple-A continued their hitting ways on Sunday, putting up 12 runs on 11 hits. Brendon Davis went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, and three RBI. Monte Harrison, Chad Wallach, and Luis Rengifo all had multi-hit games with Wallach adding a solo home run to his big homestand.
Jonathan Aro started on the mound for the Bees, pitching four innings and allowing just three hits and one earned run while striking out three batters. It was his first start since August 13, 2019 and his first start in Triple-A since July 7, 2017. Wander Suero earned the win in his first appearance of the season, throwing 1.2 innings of relief.
The Bees broke things open in the second inning with a five-run rally, powered by Davis' first double of the day. They added three more in the fourth highlighted by Wallach's home run and doubles from Davis and Rengifo. Davis hit his home run in the sixth, a two-run blast to right field that brought home Jose Rojas.
Las Vegas tried to make things interesting in the ninth inning, loading the bases with two outs, but Dillon Thomas made a diving catch in right field to end the game.
Salt Lake will now travel to Reno, Nevada for a six-game series against the Reno Aces starting on Tuesday April 19 at 1:05 p.m.
